ABOUT
I’m Yanina, a content creator and a selective mutism parent-teacher strategist.
My goal is to help parents identify their kids’ biggest struggle, build knowledge about selective mutism and the effective intervention strategies to use these strategies in a purposeful and knowledgeable step-by-step parent-teacher collaboration.
I’m a nerd at heart. Getting to the bottom of the issue and finding the answers to the most complicated questions is what drives me alongside the curiosity I feel about many issues, such as selective mutism, child anxiety, and stress.
Oh, and since I’m an educator as well, I create resources that address many issues of social and emotional development.
There is nothing like the joy you feel from creating a tool that is easy to understand, implement, and that solves big problems (selective mutism, for example).
I can break a complex concept into easy-to-digest chunks.
I’ll help you build the toolkit of resources and the understanding of how to use them so that you, a parent, can start a step-by-step work with a teacher and help your child conquer selective mutism anxiety disorder in a classroom.
I had no idea about mindfulness or that 2017 would be the most difficult year of my life.
My child was diagnosed with selective mutism when she was 4.5 years old. Facing the unknown, the scary predicament for my child, I fell into depression, and my relationships at work and with my husband hit the rock bottom.
I cannot convey the paralyzing pain, fear, and uncertainty I felt back then. Luckily, it didn’t take me long to indulge in my own misery (I was sick and tired of it). I quickly realized:
I dove into educating myself about selective mutism and connecting to a selective mutism treatment professional to start implementing interventions for anxiety at home and in social settings.
I also developed some tools and resources for my child’s teachers so that my daughter gets the best experience at school.
As a mom of a child with selective mutism and as an elementary teacher, I have the opportunity to be in the unique place to see how the collaboration between parents and a teacher of a child with selective mutism should be happening.
